Scottish producer Rustie released a few of my favorite tracks this year ( “Triadzz”/”Slasherr”)… His style is considered to be quite of-the-moment, one that is akin to other cutting edge producers like Arca, Evian Christ, and Hudson Mohawke. “Boatsss” is a new track that he contributes to the Everything Is New Sponsored double-LP titled Boats. Proceeds from the project go to the charity Scottish Love in Action which feeds, clothes, houses, educates and provides medical care for over 500 children by funding the Light of Love Home and School in southeast India. Boats will be released on January 20, 2014 through Transgressive North.
King Khan and the Shrines make their righteous return to music with their latest full-length Idle No More. Tracks like “Bite My Tongue” and “Born to Die” will make good additions to the bands already fun and energetic live show. “Darkness” is an opaque ballad that finds King Khan confessing “there is Darkness everywhere” in a calm falsetto. They will play the Turf Club on October 21st in Saint Paul.
Production duo Odezsa released their My Friends Never Die EP last month. “Without You” uses a vocal sample from Kimbra as well as Gotye from their massive 2011 hit single. I would normally not be into a song that uses such an obvious sample… But it works well together. You can see them this Sunday (October 20) in Minneapolis at the Skyway Theatre.
Ty Segall continues to shred like a freakin’ maniac. FUZZ is a trio he started in 2011 with his longtime colleagues Charlie Mootheart and Roland Cosio. Their proper self-titled debut was released earlier this month on In The Red. “Loose Sutres” Is a weird rippin rocker with it’s boss guitar leads and Totally Stoked persona. These dudes will play the Turf Club in Saint Paul on October 20th. CCR Headcleaner opens the show.
TIME recognized Jenny Hval in a list of “Scandinavian Bands You Should Listen To Now”. Innocence is kinky is her latest album that has given her such attention. Tracks like “The Seer” and “I Called” give off warmth through space… while her quaint approach to songwriting lets her unique voice resonate through the majestic hills of Norway.

Australian producer Flume has become an international success with his effervescent beats and technicolor synth arpeggios. His eponymous debut was released last year on Mom+Pop. “Warm Thoughts” is one of many standout tracks on the album. You may recall my post earlier this year on his Hit singles "Left Alone" (ft. Chet Faker) and "Sleepless" (ft Jezzabell Doran).
